With a keen understanding of health care communications, Rene Durazzo brings years of experience to The Sheridan Group, particularly in domestic and international health.

A leading expert on HIV/AIDS, Rene served as Vice President of Global Programs for the Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation, and worked, directly, with the South African government to provide broad access to HIV drugs. He is a leader in designing and developing prevention programs, and media-based campaigns around health care issues. Rene was a central player in the passage of the Ryan White CARE Act in 1990, and helped secure over $2 billion in federal funding for community-based HIV treatment services.

A former television news journalist, Rene holds a masters degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of California at Berkeley.
