Sara McAndrew brings to The Sheridan Group community organizing, advocacy, and research expertise across a range of issue areas, with a particular passion for domestic and international policy issues affecting women and children.
Sara started with The Sheridan Group in 2005 as Legislative and Operations Coordinator. Sara served as the liaison with the Group's legislative, political, and administrative directors on operations and budgetary issues. After completing an MSc in Gender and Social Policy, Sara re-joined The Sheridan Group in 2008 as Senior Research Associate. Most recently, Sara completed worked on a year long research project with KaBOOM to identify national best practices of opportunities for kids to play. A few of her current clients are Catholic Charities USA, Asia Society, and Scholastic.
Sara's political organizing and outreach experience includes work with Grassroots Campaigns and MoveOn.org as their National Hiring Director. In this role, Sara was responsible for grassroots fundraising for the DNC. With MoveOn, Sara conducted voter outreach for the 2004 presidential election.
Sara graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Sociology and the London School of Economics and Political Science with a Masters in Gender and Social Policy. Her graduate school research focused on international development policy.
A native of Pennsylvania, Sara is an avid reader and has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Western and Central Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
