Erin Hemlin Legislative Intern
Erin is a Legislative Intern, providing research and writing for the Sheridan Group team.
Erin honed these research skills during a yearlong assignement with the Congressional Research Service. At CRS, Erin’s research concentrated on congressional administration, and historical trends of the Congress as an institution. She contributed to reports regarding Member tenure, Member demographics, committee funding, rules and authorities of committees and the roles of the leadership.
Prior to moving to the Washington D.C. area, Erin worked for Plateau Land and Wildlife Management, a private environmental consulting firm based in Austin, Texas. During her two years with Plateau, Erin helped streamline the administrative side of her department, consolidating three positions into one, and aided Plateau in achieving the highest growth in profit in 2009 since the firm’s inception
While in college Erin worked for a political fundraising firm that managed several local democratic candidates during the November 2006 election cycle. Erin helped organize and coordinate fundraising events for two candidates for Austin City Council, Randi Shade and Lee Leffingwell. She has also served in the non-profit sector as a neighborhood canvasser for Environment Texas, working to preserve a cherished Austin landmark, Barton Springs, from increasing overdevelopment in the area.
Erin received her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas in 2008, graduating magna cum laude and from the Honors Program. Erin was also an NCAA Division II student-athlete at St. Edward’s as a member of the softball team from 2004-2006. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in political science at George Mason University.
